Los Angeles, Calif. - April 12, 2003 - Adam Sandler, Mike Myers, Amanda Bynes, Frankie Muniz, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jackie Chan, SpongeBob SquarePants and the Los Angeles Lakers are among those who scored coveted Kids' Choice Blimp Awards at Nickelodeon's 16th Annual Kids' Choice Awards, in a live telecast replete with heavy-hitters in TV, movies, music and sports, Saturday, April 12 (8 p.m. ET/tape delay PT). Kids honored their favorites at this year's kudos/mess-fest at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif., where celebrities also faced-off against their virtual reality nemeses in a life-sized video game, and green slime showers made the day. Rosie O'Donnell marked her seventh consecutive year as host.

A record-breaking 22 million kids participated in the voting on Nickelodeon Online (www.nick.com) or by calling a toll-free number during Nickelodeon programming. Voting began March 10 and continued online through April 12, the day of the awards ceremony. Tally yielded a pair of awards for both Amanda Bynes (Favorite Movie Actress, Big Fat Liar; Favorite TV Actress, The Amanda Show, What I Like About You) and Adam Sandler (Favorite Movie Actor, Mr. Deeds; Favorite Voice from an Animated Movie, 8 Crazy Nights).

In addition to winning Favorite Athlete, skateboarding champion Tony Hawk went for the green - and clinched a record -- wowing the crowd with a spectacular "World Record Skateboarding Slime Dive," landing in an 11,000-gallon tank of Nickelodeon's signature green slime.

In a show highlight Will Smith accepted the annual Wannabe Award, an honor bestowed on a celebrity role model who kids most "want to be," from rising star Nick Cannon (The Nick Cannon Show, Drumline), whom he once mentored.

A climactic moment of sublime mess, the traditional Nickelodeon Kids' Choice superstar surprise sliming, incited shrieks of delight when a sudden onslaught of green goo drenched Jim Carrey. Covered from head to toe, he gamely sloshed in the footsteps of previous years' slime recipients, including Adam Sandler and Tom Cruise, and then took the reins. In a great "gotcha" moment Carrey switched from clueless to cagey, turning to spread the slime to host O'Donnell and elated audience members. Earlier, a slimy curtain splashed ecstatic kids in the mosh pit.

In another unique moment Justine Timberlake demonstrated a very special talent in the third celebrity burp-off, held during red carpet arrivals. He walked away proudly with the Burp Award, following in the footsteps of one-time best belcher Cameron Diaz (2001) who presented him the award. He unseated last year's champs Jessica Alba and Steve Irwin. Kids were afforded the opportunity to vote for the Burp Award during the show on nick.com.

Eclipsing even last year's star-studded telecast, this year's show featured celebrity participants including Brad Pitt, Michelle Pfeiffer, Will Smith, Britney Spears, Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu, Sylvester Stallone, Adam Sandler, Will Ferrell, Brittany Murphy, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, Frankie Muniz, Damon Wayans, Hilary Duff, Amanda Bynes, Mandy Moore, Ashton Kutcher, Kelly Clarkson, Justin Guarini, Jessica Alba, Tony Hawk, Dave Mirra, The Rock, Melissa Joan Hart, Bow Wow, Lil' Romeo, Nick Cannon, Daryl Sabara, Josh Peck, Alexis Bledel, Kaley Cuoco and Mathew Lillard.

Multi-platinum recording artists Justin Timberlake and B2K pumped up the volume musically by performing their respective hits "Rock Your Body" and "That Girl"/"Girlfriend"medley.

Furthermore, Kelly Osbourne went behind-the-scenes at the Awards to host a special post-show special, featuring celebrity interviews on the orange carpet, to be telecast Sunday, April 13 during TEENick.
